Notes
1. “A memorial service to men of Franklin, Nansen and Blackett Streets, Jarrow, who fell in the war was held at St. Aidan’s Church, Jarrow, last night, at which two flags, the White Ensign and Union Jack, provided by the relatives, friends and congregation, assisted by Mr. Hugh Golder, J.P. were hung in the chancel. The service was conducted by Mr. Norris, jun., a lay reader, who received the flags from Mr. J. Rowell, churchwarden. Memorial tablets were also hung underneath the flags.” Northern Echo
