Moved c2004 to St. Andrew’s Church, Blackhall Colliery. In 2010 it was removed to the Community Centre, where it was mounted on an oak pattress with other memorials.

Memorial Description

Crucifix. Underneath is a plaque, very plain, 4½ inches high x 6½ inches wide mounted under a crucifix. There is a cross at centre top. Lettering is in sans serif and Roman capitals.

Notes

1. The original gravemarker for Pte. Fairhurst, along with two others were originally placed in the church.

The metal strips on the marker read:
15630 Pte. J. Fairhurst 4th R.Fus.
21-8-18


2. October 2017 the grave markers are on display at the Methodist Church Hesleden.

3. John Thomas Fairhurst is remembered at Hesleden on H124.01
