The panels were unveiled 11th November 1922 by Mrs. Maling and dedicated by Archdeacon Blackett-Ord.
Names were unveiled on 13th October 1923 by Miss Le Conte (Formerly headmistress of Heaton Park Road School) and dedicated by Canon Alfred Boot,

Memorial Description

Panelling in front of the organ. The names from 1914-18 were inscribed on six panels, at the top of each of which is a decoration which might be a regimental badge. The names from 1939-45 were added at the foot of four of these panels. The dedication was on a wider central panel, inscribed beneath a cross.

1. It would seem that the oak panels were unveiled and the names were added and dedicated in another ceremony almost a year later.

Ian Falconer and St. Silas’ Parochial Church Council under the auspices of the Byker Priority Area Team, a booklet commemorating the centenary of the church, contains a photograph of the memorial, and gives details of the dedication.
