Unveiled May 1920 by Lieut. Col. Robb of Hexham; dedicated by Canon Kempson of Newcastle.

Memorial Description

Plaque. There is a wide patterned border comprising blocks of squared leaf-shaped patterns placed at regular intervals. The words "Our glorious dead" are in italics, the rest of the inscription is in an elaborate Roman upper and lower case lettering. The names are listed in two columns.

Notes

1. Although stated to be from the Mission Church, it is highly probable that this came from now demolished Village Institute Hall at Hedley on the Hill, which was erected as a War Memorial to villagers who died. See H38.01.

2. The Diocesan faculty allows the plaque “previously in former Welfare Hall in village” to be placed in the church immediately beneath the existing plaque.
