Notes

1. St. Chad’s was founded approx. 1905 primarily as a Training College for the Ministry of the Church of England.

2. Mr. Horsfall also donated £3,000 to the endowment of the first fellowship of the College, and it was “proposed shortly to nominate to the fellowship a distinguished alumnus of the College who has been serving in the Army since 1914”.

3. Major Horsfall was well known as the president of the Oxford University Boating Club.
