Notes

1. The S.S. "Belgian Prince", a Merchant Vessel of 4765 tons, was hit by a torpedo from an U Boat U 55, commanded by Kapitänleutnant Wilhelm Werner on the 31st July 1917, 175 miles N by NW from Tory Island. 39 lives were lost and the Master, Harry Hassan made prisoner. She was sunk the next day by scuttling charges. Read the shocking story.

2. The Old Rifle Range had been opened as the new Scout & Guide HQ. The presentation of three pictures, including this one, was the occasion of the re-opening of the hall after refurbishment.

3. In 1919 an appeal was made for names of Scouts from this troop who had fallen so that a brass plaque could be created.
