In St.Mary’s Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

24454 Private
A. Tully
Northumberland Fusiliers
25th February 1918 age 27.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Arthur was born near Morpeth in 1890, the youngest of four children to William and Ann Tully. His father was a shepherd and in 1891 they were living at Low Common House, Tranwell.

In 1901 the family had moved to the outskirts of Morpeth and were living at High Church Road. William (then aged 60) was still working as a shepherd but the main providers seem to have been their children William (a cabinet maker) and Eleanor (draper's assistant). William Snr. died in 1908.

In 1911 the family were living in Dacre Street, Morpeth. Arthur was working as a hewer at the pit and his mother had taken in another hewer as a boarder.

Arthur married Annie Robson in 1914, and moved to Netherton Colliery to work. He was wounded but was repatriated to hospital in England and died at home. He was probably buried in Morpeth at his mother's request.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.07
