In St.Mary’s Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 101967 Air Mechanic 3rd Class John Laiver Browell serving with the Royal Air Force who died 01/03/1919.

The headstone reads:

beloved and eldest son of
Joseph and Mary Browell
of Morpeth
who died at Orpington, Kent, March 1st 1919
aged 20 years and 10 months.
also Joseph Browell,
father of the above,
who died Dec. 13th 1952
aged 77 years.
also Robert,
beloved husband of
Marjory Browell,
Died May 9th 1961 aged 61 years.
Also Mary Browell,
wife of the above Joseph
died March 14th 1963 aged 84 years.
Also Hilda Browell,
wife of Joseph Arthur
died October 15th 1965 aged 63 years.
Joseph Arthur Browell,
husband of the above,
died August 29th 1976 aged 72 years.
Also Jack Browell,
younger son of Joseph Arthur and Hilda,
died January 4th 1985 aged 48 years.

He is remembered in Morpeth on M17.01, M17.09 and M17.29

His middle name is wrongly given as "Laiver" on the CWGC entry.
