Aitken, T.G., Pte., 1918
In Le Grand Beaumart British Cemetery Steenwerck is the Commonwealth War Grave of 32098 Private Thomas Goudie Aitken serving with the North Staffordshire Regiment who died 15/04/1918.

Colin McMillan has provided the following:

Thomas Goudie Aitken was born in Glasgow in 1884 but lived in Morpeth at the time of both the 1901 and 1911 censuses, his address for both being 130 Newgate Street. He lived with his parents, John Aitken (51 in 1911) and Mary Aitken (53) and three brothers: John Aitken (28), William Aitken (25) and Clive Henderson Aitken (19). Thomas himself was 27 at the time. He was recorded as being a boot repairer although 10 years previously was a plumber’s apprentice as were brothers John and William. Clive was a 9 year school boy. All brothers were born in Glasgow apart from the youngest, Clive who was born in Newcastle.

Thomas was a private in the 2nd/6th North Staffordshire Regiment. His service number was 32098 and he was killed on 15th April 1918 when aged 35.
