Robert was the eldest son of Farquhar Deuchar, of Loansdean, Morpeth and Shortridge Hall, Warkworth, Northumberland, and Mrs. Deuchar.
2nd Lieutenant Robert Deuchar was educated at Harrow from 1910-13, after which he had gone into business. He joined the 3rd/2nd Scottish Horse (Yeomanry).
He was accidentally killed, on May 26th 1916, at Troon, Ayrshire, in a motor-cycle accident just before he was due to leave for France.

Robert was born on 3rd September 1896 in Whalton, Morpeth and baptised there on 16th December 1896. He was the son of Farquhar Laing Deuchar of Shortridge Hall, Nr Warkworth and his wife Sarah Ann (nee Marshall) who were married in London in 1894. He was brother to Farquhar Jnr, Stella, Jessie, and Iris.
His father’s occupation was a brewer. In 1911 the family address was Transdean House, Tranwell, Morpeth. His wife Sarah Ann had died and in 1919 he married his second wife Constance Muriel Deuchar (nee Dusgate). Father Farquhar died 10 Oct 1947 at Shortridge Hall, Warkworth and the probate was granted to his widow on 8 April 1948.
Robert was a Commercial Clerk. He died 27th May 1916 age 19 at the County Hospital, Ayr, Scotland. His address in 1916 was Loansdean, Morpeth.
