Michael Dalton was the fourth son of Jacob Dalton and Bridget Dalton. He was born on 2nd July 1891 at Choppington.

In 1901 the family lived at Bedlington but by 1911 had moved to 89 Sycamore Street, Hirst, Ashington. At that time his two oldest brothers, Patrick and William, had left home but George (23) was still there as were the younger siblings: Robert (18), Jacob junior (15), Mary (13) and James (12). Michael himself was 20 and, like his father and brothers Robert and Jacob, worked in the coal mining industry.

Some time later the family moved to Morpeth where they lived at Wansbeck Mill House and this was where the family lived when they received the news of Michael’s death, although at the time the CWGC were putting their records together the family lived at 8 Corporation Yard, Morpeth.

Two of his brothers, Robert and George also died.

Michael Dalton is remembered in Morpeth on M17.01 M17.09 M17.17 and M17.29
