Squadron Leader Stanislaw Zygmunt Zarski was born in Poland in 1897. He was possibly conscripted into the German army during the Great War and he was awarded the Iron Cross.

Between the wars he held several aviation commands. After war broke out he escaped through France to Britain. He was sent to 4th Air Gunnery School near Morpeth. He collided with another aircraft in poor weather conditions, and all crew members on both aircraft were killed.

His medals, including the Iron Cross and his British War Medals, came up for sale at auction by Anderson & Garland in December 2018.

Journal 03/12/2018 reports his story and proposed sale of medals.

Acknowledgments: Tony Henderson.
