In Ancre British Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/5010 Able Seaman George Robert Chandler, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 13/11/1916.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

George was born on January 12th 1894 and was working as a hawker living with his father, John at 24, Newgate Street, Morpeth when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on June 4th 1915. He joined the Anson Battalion on February 5th 1916 and served in France until he was reported as missing, later killed in action, on November 13th 1916. George obviously married during his service as on his death his next of kin was noted as his wife living at 24, Hindhaugh Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.
