On the Tyne Cot Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the name of 51974 Private John Barnett Aynsley, serving with the 9th Battalion Cheshire Regiment, who died 20/09/1917

In 1901 John Barnett Aynsley was two years old and living with his 30 year old father, George, a joiner, and his mother, 27 year old Elizabeth at 4 Dawson Place.

By 1911 the family had moved to 14 West Greens and had been joined by younger siblings Robert (9), William (7), Lilian (5) and Maggie Clarke (1). By the time the CWGC were putting together their lists John’s parents had moved to 6 Armstrong Terrace.

Morpeth Herald 12/10/1917 carries a brief obituary:

Roll of Honour
Aynsley:- Killed in action, September 20th, aged 19 years, Private John Barnett, Cheshires, eldest son of George and Elizabeth Aynsley, 14 West Greens [sic], Morpeth.

Morpeth Herald 26/10/1917 also carries a brief obituary:
Killed in action, September 20th, aged 19, Private John Barnett [Aynsley], Cheshires, eldest son of George and Elizabeth Aynsley, 14 West Greens, Morpeth.
He was the son of George and Elizabeth Aynsley, of 6, Armstrong Terrace, Morpeth.
