On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 26/1473 Private Charles Hunter, serving with the 26th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 01/07/1916.

Morpeth Herald 06/10/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Mrs Chas. Hunter, Newgate Street, Morpeth, has received official information that her husband, Private Chas. Hunter, N.F. No.1473, was killed in action on July 1st. He was a son-in-law of Mr Thomas Burn, of Morpeth. Prior to enlisting he worked at Barmoor Colliery.

He is remembered at Morpeth on M17.01 M17.09 and M17.29
