In Cairo War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 57313 Rifleman Robert Carr Pelter, serving with the 1/11th London Regiment (Finsbury Rifles) Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps who died 12/11/1918.

Robert Carr Pelter was born at South Shields about 1891, the son of Thomas and Mary Pelter, husband of Selina Pelter, of 23, North Parade, Whitley Bay, Northumberland. He worked for the North Eastern Railway at Gosforth station.

Whitley Seaside Chronicle and Visitor's Gazette - 14/12/1918

'Mrs Pelter, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. T. Bonner, of 23 North Parade, Whitley Bay, has been notified that her husband, Rifleman Robert Carr Pelter, 1/11 King's Royal Rifles, died of dysentery at Citadel Hospital, Cairo, Egypt, in November 12th. Previous to joining the colours was many years with the N.E.R. at South Gosforth Station.'

'PELTER.-Egypt, Cairo, the Citadel Hospital, Rifleman Robert Carr Pelter 1/11 Kong's Royal London Rifles, died of dysentery, the beloved husband of Lens Pelter (nee Bonner, of 23, North Parade, Whitley Bay) and eldest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Pelter, Ashtree Farm, Talkin, Brampton Junction'.
