In 1919 George Swinburn, aged 37, worked as an agent. His address was 30 Rectory Terrace, South Gosforth, Newcastle on Tyne. His father was Ralph Teasdale Swinburn (deceased), an accountant.
On 19th March George married Phoebe Bodger Carr, aged 21 or 24, in St. Paul's Church, Cullercoats. She was the daughter of Robert Bell Carr, a grocer. Her address: 4 Crescent Vale. The marriage was witness by L.S. Richardson and R.B. Carr.

Newcastle Evening Chronicle 20/03/1919 reports:
'MILITARY WEDDING AT WHITLEY BAY
The wedding took place, yesterday, at St Paul's Church, Whitley Bay, of Captain George Swinburn, M.C., N.F., eldest son of Mrs. C. A. Swinburn and the late Mr Ralph Teasdale Swinburn, late chief accountant N.E.R., 30 Rectory Terrace, Gosforth, and Miss Phoebe Bodger Carr, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bell Carr, of 4 Crescent Vale, Whitley Bay.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. D. Cattell, vicar of St. Paul's.
During the war the bride assisted at one of the local hospitals, and assisted in connection with the canteens and entertainments for wounded soldiers at Whitley Bay. The bridegroom joined the 24th Batt. N.F. (1st Tyneside Irish) in 1914, and proceeded to France with the Tyneside Irish Brigade. He was mentioned in the despatches in 1916, and awarded the M.C. in 1917.
The bride, who was given away by her father, carried a sheaf of lilies. She was attended by Miss Laidlow, of Monkseaton, as bridesmaid. Mr Leslie S. Richardson, of Low Fell, acted as best man.
The couple afterwards left for the West Coast, where the honeymoon will be spent.
A death notice appeared in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle date unknown but 1938:
'Swinburn.- Mill Hill, London, 5 Newcombe Park, on the 1st inst., George dearly beloved husband of Phoebe B Swinburn and elder son of the late Ralph and Charlotte Swinburn of Gosforth. Service at St Mary's Church, Monkseaton, at 2.15 p.m. Interment at Whitley New Cemetery at 2.45 p.m. on Saturday, February 5th. Flowers to 40, King's Road, Monkseaton.'
George Swinburn's name appears in Gosforth on G9.19 and in Felling on F31.01
