Hyde, E.B., Apprentice, 1942
In Freetown (King Tom) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Apprentice Edward Briggs Hyde, serving with the Merchant Navy who died 16/11/1942.

The Scout Roll of Honour 1939-45 states that he died from exposure when his ship S.S. Peterton was sunk. He had been a member of 5th Whitley Bay Group.

He is remembered on our List of Ships’ crews
