Colin Boyd tells us that Thomas was born on the 23rd February 1890. He was working as a shoemaker when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on the 13th June 1915 and he arrived in France on 27th February 1917.
Thomas died in the 30th Casualty Clearing Station on the 3rd May 1917 from gun shot wounds to the back and chest received on the 24th April 1917 and he is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension.
At the time of his enlistment he was living at 4a, Park Avenue, Whitley Bay.
