In Redoubt Cemetery, Helles is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/1669 Able Seaman John Chisholm Whitfield, serving with the Royal Navy who died 30/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

John was born on 26th April 1880. He was working as a labourer, living with his wife, Catherine, at 80, George Street, Willington Quay when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 10th November 1914.

John joined the Hawke Battalion on 9th May 1915 in Gallipoli and died of wounds on 30th June 1915.

John Chisholm Whitfield is remembered in Willington Quay on W56.03, in Wallsend on W7.23 and in Tynemouth on T36.14 page 29
