Wooley, G., A/Smn., 1915
In East Mudros Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/3187 Able Seaman George Wooley, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 27/08/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

George was born on 1st January 1894. He was working as a labourer, living with his parents, James and Mary, at 22, Byron Avenue, Willington Quay (later changed to mother only at 33, Station Road, Willington Quay) when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 6th January 1915.

He joined the Hood Battalion in Gallipoli on 18th July 1915.

George died at 11.45pm on 27th August 1915 on board the hospital ship "Cawdor Castle" from the effects of a gun shot wound to the abdomen.

George Wooley is remembered in Willington Quay on W56.01 and W56.03
