In Tynemouth (Preston) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Peter
The beloved husband of
Henrittea Burgon
Who was killed by German mines
off Harwich.
Dec. 26th 1915, aged 54 years.
Also George, eldest son
Died Feb. 21 1909
Aged 21 years & 5 months.
Also the above
Henrietta Burgon
Died March 6th 1949
Aged 84 years,
Also Joseph B. Burgon,
grandson & beloved son of
J. & J. Burgon,
Killed by enemy action
April 9th, 1941, aged 24 years.
Also Blanche I.H. & Peter, died in infancy
Peter Downey Burgon, grandson died in infancy.
