'J H Patterson killed.
Mr John K. Patterson, 15 William Street West, North Shields, has read a telegram from the war office stating that his son, Lieut. John Hylton Patterson, of the Northumberland Fusiliers, was killed in action on July 1st. Lieut. Patterson, who was 22 years of age, was employed prior to the war in the labour Exchange, North Shields. Deceased was an active worker at the Stephenson Street Congregational Church, being secretary of the Sunday School up to the time of receiving his commission. He was an old Western Council school boy, and passed from hence to the Municipal High School.'
