Howarth, J., Pte., 1939-45
James Howarth was the son of Mr. & Mrs. J. Howarth, 6 North Rd., Preston Village. He went to the Ralph Gardner School, and later worked for the North Shields Co-operative Society, then North Shields Agricultural Co.

As a private he was wounded in France and sent home to recuperate.
