On the Menin Gate at Ypres is the name of 5938 Private James Elliott Mavin, serving with the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 16/06/1915.

The Shields Daily News 01/09/1915 reports:

Killed in action
Corpl. Jas. Elliott Mavin.
1st Batt. Northumberland Fusiliers, killed in action at Ypres on June 16th last. He lived at 11 Front Street, Milburn Place. Corporal Mavin who went through the Boer War, was previous to going to the Front, employed by Pyman, Bell and Co., Coble Dene Dock. He leaves a widow and four children.'

The report also carries a photo.

James Elliott was the son of Robert and Sarah Mavin. He married Miranda Amelia Vairey at Holy Trinity Church, North Shields on 9th July 1904.
