On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of Second Lieutenant Thomas Nelson Melrose, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 14/11/1916.

In Preston Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Thomas S. Melrose
Born Feb. 16th 1855. Died Jany. 31st ?1933
Also his beloved wife
Agnes Anderson Melrose
Born . . . . . .er 20th 1854, died June 6th 1942.

On a kerbstone:

Lieut. Thomas Nelson Melrose
Born June 26th 1893
Killed in action in France Nov. 14th 1916.
