In Charleroi Communal Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2156029 Sapper Frederick George Shorey, serving with the Royal Engineers who died 26/12/1944.

In Preston Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
my dear husband
John Shorey
died 16 Feb. 1957 aged 66 years
Also his dear wife
Dorothy W. Shorey
died 6th March 1986 aged 93 years
Also Fred their dear son
killed in action
Belgium Dec. 1944 aged 21 years.
