On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Sailor George Albert Metcalfe, serving with the Merchant Navy who died 13/10/1942.

In Preston Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In memory of
my dear husband
Albert Metcalfe
died Dec. 12th 1952
aged 67 years
Also George Albert
son of the above
lost at sea Oct. 13th 1942
aged 19 years.
