Jobson, J., A/Smn., 1918
On the Arras Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/4602 Able Seaman John Jobson, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer reserve who died 25/03/1918.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

John was born on 23rd November 1896 and was working as a labourer living with his father, Robert at 56, Lansdowne Terrace, North Shields when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 17th May 1915.

He joined the Drake Battalion on 21st September 1915 and received a slight wound on 13th November 1916.

After rejoining the Drake Battalion on 22nd December 1916 John served until 23rd April 1917 when he received a gun shot wound to the left arm for which he was invalided to the UK on 28th April 1917.

John rejoined the Drake Battalion again on 27th September 1917, was promoted on 18th January 1918 and was reported as killed in action on 25th March 1918.

John Jobson is remembered in North Shields on N34.11 and N34.46 and in Tynemouth on T36.14 page 15.
