In Longbenton (Benton) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

Sergeant Telford was serving with 11 OTU. He was a crew member of Wellington IC R1661 which was on a night training exercise. It undershot the runway at Waddington and ended up in the airfield’s sewage works. Three crew members were killed and two were injured. Sergeant Telford was a pre-war regular. Donald Montgrove Telford is remembered at Longbenton in L25.10 and in the Scout Roll of Honour 1939-45, where his initials are given as "D.A."
