Snowdon, A.W., A/Sman., 1918

In Longbenton (Benton) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of J/61170 (P.O.) Able Seaman Arthur William Snowdon, serving with the Royal Navy who died 18/10/1918.

The headstone cross has been laid down in front of the pedestal on which it stood.

It reads:

In Loving memory of
Arthur William
Snowdon, R.N.
of H.M.S. Sable
who died in the service of his country
on the 18th October 1918, aged 30 years.
the younger son of
Margaret and the late John Snowdon
also the above John Snowdon,
who was lost at sea February 1899.
also the above Margaret Showdon
who died 10th January 1928 aged 80 years
also Elizabeth Rowell Snowdon
who died 7th January 1966 aged 81 years.

Arthur William Snowdon was born in Northfields, Northumberland on 25th March 1888.
