Their deaths were reported by Longbenton Urban District. <
TheNorth East Diary 1939-45 page 40-41, states that on 29/10/1941 two HE’s hit Seaton Burn (NZ 238741) in the vicinity of 9 Thorntree Avenue and beside the Co-op store. Three children were believed to have been buried as voices were heard. One child was rescued at 00.55 on the 30th. The bodies of two children were recovered later. Three other people were seriously injured and twelve were slightly injured. Three houses were demolished and others damaged.
James Pasby’s research has identified the two children who died are Cecil William Carr 2, and Stanley Carr age 6.
The children are remembered at Longbenton in L25.10 page 40 and 41.
