In Seghill (Holy Trinity) Churchyard) is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

R. Harrison
Able Seaman R.N.
P/JX,701460
R.F.A. "Broomdale"
30th September 1945 age 19.

A happy smile
And cheerful word
To all he met
Made life worthwhile.

Raymond was the son of John and Ada Beatrice of Seghill. His father was a Golf Professional/Gamekeeper of 7 The Crescent, Seaton Valley. The R.F.A. “Broomdale” was a freighting tanker, built by Harland & Wolff, Govan and launched in September 1937. It was taken out of service in 1959 and broken up. The record gives very little information other than to say that Raymond (DEMS Gunner) was “discharged dead”.
