James was born on 3rd February 1891 and was working as a miner living with his wife, Mary at 12, Mortimer Terrace, Bates Cottages, Seaton Valley when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 19th November 1914.
He joined the 1st Platoon, 'D' Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th March 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 4th June 1915.
James High is remembered in Holywell on H67.02
