In Buttes New British Cemetery, Polygon Wood, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of G/52506 Private Richard Gibson, serving with the 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment, who died 16/08/1917.

Morpeth Herald 26/10/1917 carries the following:

Private Richard Gibson, Middlesex Regiment, whose wife and family reside at 8 Woods Street, Crofton, is reported missing since August 16th.

He is not remembered on any memorial at Cowpen and Crofton but there is a R. Gibson at Blyth on B42.24 and a Richard Gibson at New Delaval on N51.02
