In Blyth (Cowpen) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

S.W. Pickering
Fireman and Trimmer
S.S. "Dalewood"
20th August 1941 age 32

There were two ships named S.S. Dalewood. The first was sunk in the Great War. The vessel from 1939-45, on which Fireman Pickering served, was sold after the war.
