Dixon, L., L.A.C., 1942
In Benghazi War Cemetery, Libya, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1352403 Leading Aircraftman Leslie Dixon, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 11/01/1942.

L.A.C. Dixon was serving with 274 Squadron. The unit’s O.R.B. (Operational Record Book), Form 540 recorded the following:

It is regretted that a pilot of Nº. 2 Squadron whilst taking off this morning in a Tomahawk had engine trouble and was unable to avoid hitting a bivy in which there were three airmen (all being Ground Gunners) and LAC. Dixon received the full impact of the tail wheel and died shortly afterwards.

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.06 and B42.23
