On the Pozieres Memorial is the name of 59404 Private John George Briggs, serving with the Durham Light Infantry, who died 22/03/1918.

In Blyth Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
James
beloved husband of
Ann Robinson,
who died Feby. 22nd 1901
in his 70th year.
The above Ann Robinson
died June 11th 1914
in her 88th year.
James, their son died in
South Africa, April 20th 1901,
Aged 37 years,
Sarah Nelson Waters Gregg
their daughter died March 13th
1904 aged 53 years.
John C. Waters, their son died
in Sundance Crook, Wyoming
North America, May 10th 1905
aged 52 years.
L/Cpl. John George Briggs 15th D.L.I.
killed in action in France
March 22nd 1918, aged 35 years.
Srgt Albert Briggs N.F.
died from pneumonia on active service
in France Dec. 8th 1918 aged 28 years.
Grandsons of the above Ann Robinson
They rest from their labour.
