Short, L., Pte., 1917
In Poelcapelle British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 8941 Private L. Short, serving with the Border Regiment who died 02/12/1917.

A double "In Remembrance" notice was placed in the Blyth News 08/12/1921 which reads:

"Short – In loving memory of my dear husband, Pte. Leonard Short. 2nd Border Regiment, killed in action December 2nd 1917.
Deep in my heart lies a picture
Of a loved one laid to rest:
And in memory's page I will keep
For he was one of the best.
Ever remembered by his loving wife Veronica, and his two children, 7 Croft Road, Blyth.

Short – In loving memory of my dear son, Pte. Leonard Short, 2nd Border Regiment, killed in action December 2nd 1917.
Absence can never take away,
What to the heart holds dear;His memory sweetens day by day,
And keep shim ever near.
Ever remembered by his mother, brother and two sisters, 21 Havelock Street, Blyth.

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.24 and possibly on the N.E.R. Roll of Honour
