Rickard, G., Dvr., 1918

In St.Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 203718 Driver G. Rickard, serving with the Royal Field Artillery who died 10/12/1918.

A double "In Remembrance" notice was placed in Blyth News 08/12/1921 which reads:

Rickard – In loving memory of Driver George Rickard, the dearly beloved son of Maria and Andrew Liddle, who died in France from influenza, Dec.10th 1918, aged 23.
This day brings back sad memories
Of a loved one gone to rest;
And those who think of him today,
Are those who loved him best.
Deeply mourned by his mother and father, brothers and sisters, and all who knew him.

Rickard – In loving memory of George, who died in France, December 10th, 1918. Ever remembered by his loving brother Fred and sister in Law Laura and nephew Thomas Rogers Rickard, of Blackhall (late of Blyth). - Peace perfect peace."

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.24 and on the N.E.R. Roll of Honour
