Laing, P., Pte., 1916
In Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19/1850 Private P. Laing, serving with the 18th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 08/01/1917.

Morpeth Herald 19/01/1917 carries a brief obituary:

A well known Blyth miner, previously working at Cowpen North Pit, Private Pat [sic] Laing, has died from wounds received in action. Laing, who was 30 years of age, leaves a widow and a family of eight children.

He is remembered at Blyth as P. Laing on B42.24 and as Peter Laing at Crofton on C58.01
