Colin Boyd has provided the following:
William was born on 2nd June 1892. He was working as a painter living with his father, Robert at 15, Hedley Avenue, Blyth when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 26th December 1914.
He joined the Hood Battalion on 18th July 1915 and served in Gallipoli and France until he was taken prisoner on 24th March 1918.
William died from the effects of gun shot wounds to the right chest, right abdomen and Suppurating Pleurisy in Lazarette Langensalza at 9.30 am on 16the April 1918.
