On the Tower Hill Memorial, London, is the name of Fireman and Trimmer Robert Foster, serving with the Mercantile Marine on S.S. “Heatherside” Newcastle, who died 24/08/1917.

He was the son of the late John Cook Foster and Johanne Foster, and husband of Elizabeth Foster (nee Robinson), of 4, Silver Street, Blyth.

Morpeth Herald 01/02/1918 carries the following:
News has been received that Robert Foster, 4 Silver Street, Blyth, was lost at sea on August 24th last.
