Wardle, G.G., Sgt., 1944
In Budapest War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 531058 Sergeant George Glenny Wardle, serving with the Royal Air Force, who died 08/08/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt. Wardle was killed when Consolidated Liberator VI KG887 of 178 Squadron was lost on a mission to attack Szombathely Airfield. The Liberator crashed near the village of Pornóapáti, Hungary, with the loss of five of the seven crew members - the two survivors were made P.o.W.

Also killed in the same incident were F/Off. W. Fairney and Sgt. R.B. Walker
