Thompson, J., F/Sgt., 1945
On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1673638 Flight Sergeant James Thompson, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 26/04/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

F/Sgt. Thompson was killed when Consolidated Liberator VI KH338 of 86 Squadron was lost without trace on an anti-submarine patrol in the Skaggerak area, with the loss of all eleven crew members. The Liberator had taken off from R.A.F. Tain at 20.43 on April 25th.

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.15, B42.19 and B42.23
