Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
Sgt. Quinn was killed when Handley Page Halifax III MZ981 of 644 Squadron was lost on a training flight. The Halifax left R.A.F. Tarrant Rushton for a long-range navigation exercise, but hit cloud covered Mont Valier in the Pyrenees, near the Spanish border, with the loss of all seven crew members. Initially they were buried in a local cemetery, then transferred to Marseilles.
Also killed in the same incident was Sgt. K. Smith
He is remembered in Blyth on B42.23 and in New Delaval on N51.01
