Quinn, W.W., Sgt., 1944
In Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1089799 Sergeant William Winter Quinn, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 19/07/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt. Quinn was killed when Handley Page Halifax III MZ981 of 644 Squadron was lost on a training flight. The Halifax left R.A.F. Tarrant Rushton for a long-range navigation exercise, but hit cloud covered Mont Valier in the Pyrenees, near the Spanish border, with the loss of all seven crew members. Initially they were buried in a local cemetery, then transferred to Marseilles.

Also killed in the same incident was Sgt. K. Smith

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.23 and in New Delaval on N51.01
