L.A.C. Marlin was killed when Vickers Wellington 1a N2872 of 9 Squadron was lost on a reconnaissance mission.The Wellington was shot down by Luftwaffe fighters off Wilhemshaven, and crashed into the sea with the loss of all six crew members.
