Metcalfe, M.W., Sgt., 1943
On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1081258 Sergeant Magnus William Metcalfe, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 28/03/1943.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt. Metcalfe was killed when Vickers Wellington XII MP506 ‘M’ of 172 Squadron was lost on an anti-submarine patrol from R.A.F. Chivenor. The Wellington was lost without trace, along with its six crew members. (172 Squadron O.R.B. Form 541)

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.15, B42.19 and B42.23
