On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1592400 Sergeant Robert Dixon Mitcheson, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 09/02/1945.

Sgt. Mitcheson was killed when Handley Page Halifax III MZ342 DT-B of 192 Squadron was lost on a bomber support operation near Stettin. On its homeward journey, the Halifax collided at 2,000 feet with Avro Lancaster i PD376 of 625 Squadron. The Lancaster escaped serious damage, but the Halifax crashed into the sea with the loss of all eight crew members.
