Wood, J.W., Stoker, 1916
On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of 4512S Stoker John William Wood, serving with the Royal Naval Reserve, who died 31/05/1916.

The Blyth News 02/06/1924 carries the following:

"Wood – in loving memory of our dear son, John William Wood, of H.M.S. Black Prince, who was killed in action May 31st, 1916, in the Battle of Jutland. A day to remember but sad to recall. Ever remembered by his loving father and mother, brothers and sisters."
